The Ana Kalang Festival is a five-day cultural and harvest celebration held annually in Nagcarlan, Laguna, Philippines, typically during the third week of April. Originally established as the Lanzones Festival in 1987, it was renamed in 1989 to honor Ana Kalang, a legendary tribal leader known for her generosity and for allegedly making the toxic lanzones fruit safe to eat. The festival’s centerpiece is the Kalang-Kalang, a unique folk art featuring towering ten-foot statues crafted from indigenous materials, fruits, and vegetables to symbolize agricultural abundance.
